too, and these revelations are one reason why I found it easy to relate to and understand him.Īnother thing is that we can only see people from Thomas's perspective, so we never see how Minho is like when Thomas is not around. The dialogue was helpful in revealing Minho's beliefs, reasoning, motivations, etc. This will be subjective, though, as we don't all empathize with the same characters. So maybe part of my own definition of roundness is whether the reader can empathize with and relate to a character. Minho might not have showed as much variation in personality traits as Thomas did, maybe, but I could love and relate to Minho very easily, and thus he feels real to me. People have different definitions of what "round" means, but I personally prefer to see round characters as those that feel like real people to you. Well, Minho is my favorite character, so I'll be biased, haha, but I don't feel that he's flat.
